Jun 29th 2010 - City tour in Phoenix and departure to the Grand Canyon

Group at Papago Park in Phoenix, AZ

Dear Families, Friends, Rotarians, and all those that follow our blog!

Today we started with a good breakfast together with all the exchange students and chaperons. Right after that, we checked out and went for an exciting tour through Phoenix. We started off by seeing the state capital and all its historical contents. Afterwards we left to appreciate the environment of phoenix, which is more exciting than you think it is in a desert, with “cool” temperature of 111 F (44 C).

We visited a huge stone rock with a hole in it and great view on the skyline of the city and took great pictures of our fabulous group. However, we kept on going to the pyramid that the first governor of Arizona is buried. Then we left to the Fashion Mall were we had some lunch and a great shopping tour (where I bought those expensive shoes, sorry Mama).

After everyone got together again, we departed to the Grand Canyon in a trip of 4 hours with one stop in between. Of course, everyone had to go to Starbucks which coffee let everyone awake again.

A couple hours after our stop we arrived at our Hotel, where everyone directly checked in and started playing games: Volleyball, Basketball and a little Soccer was played everywhere with lots of people and lots of fun.

But we got called to a great dinner soon and we congratulated our Birthday girl from Italy, Margherita, in 14 different languages with the ‘Happy Birthday’ Song. A Birthday she hopefully never forgets.

Everyone so excited again we all went to continue our activities and join the pool.

We are looking forward for an exciting day at the Grand Canyon tomorrow!
